• Platts assessed SS400 hot rolled coil 3.0mm thick at $500/metric ton FOB China, up $2.50/mt from last Friday. In Shanghai’s dealer market, Q235 5.5mm HRC was assessed at Yuan 3,810-3,830/mt ($552-555/mt) ex-stock with 17% VAT, up Yuan 35/mt from Friday.– source: Platts

Scrap

• Metal Bulletin’s daily index for Northern Europe-origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) closed at $278.88 per tonne cfr, the same level as Friday’s index. - source: Metal Bulletin

 

• The daily index for USA-origin material was also unchanged at $287.32 per tonne cfr, with the premium for US material over Northern European scrap at $8.44 per tonne on January 16. - source: Metal Bulletin

 

• The S&P Global Platts weekly assessment for clean steel scrap increased 1.8% to Real 410/metric ton ($127/mt), based on a range of Real 400-420/mt for bids, offers and deals. At the beginning of the month, clean steel scrap prices were at $390-415/mt.- source: Platts

 

Semis

• S&P Global Platts assessed its daily CIS export billet price at $390/metric ton FOB Black Sea Monday, down $5/mt on day. - source: Platts

 

 

Bar/ Wire rod

• Tokyo Steel’s price for SS400 senior-sized H-beams will be Yen 78,000/mt for February contracts, and price for SD295 base-sized rebar becomes Yen 56,000/mt.- source: Platts

 

• S&P Global Platts assessed Turkish export rebar at $425/mt FOB on Monday, unchanged on day. - source: Platts

 

HRC/P

• S&P Global Platts increased the midpoint of its north European hot rolled coil assessment by €2.50/metric ton on Monday, taking the range to €560-570/metric ton ex-works Ruhr. - source: Platts

 

• Metal Bulletin sister publication AMM’s price assessment for HRC has, nonetheless, increased to $31 per cwt ($620 per ton), up 3.30% from $30 per cwt ($600 per ton) two weeks ago and up 31.90% from early November's $23.50 per cwt ($470 per ton). – source: Metal Bulletin
