Leading pipe manufacturer Engtex Group Bhd has secured five contracts worth RM60mil to supply mild steel cement-lined and ductile iron pipes to various water and infrastructure projects undertaken by the government in Johor, Pahang, Kedah and Selangor.
In a statement yesterday, the group said the contracts were expected to be completed within six to eight months.
“The new contracts has given us a strong footing in the new year, bringing our order book to RM170mil as of March 31, 2017.
“Most of these projects are set to be recognised in the financial year ending Dec 31, 2017,” said group managing director Datuk Ng Hook.
The group also tendered for more than RM300mil worth of projects nationwide, including new pipe supply contracts for residential and infrastructure projects.
“Backed by our impeccable track record in product quality and timely delivery, we are optimistic of beefing up our order book to sustain our financial performance for the rest of the year,” he said. Ng said the order book for the group’s mild steel cement-lined pipe plant in Serendah, Selangor and ductile iron pipe plant in Kuantan was sufficient. The mild steel cement-lined pipe plant’s annual production capacity stood at 66,000 tonnes, with a capital expenditure of RM7mil.
