Three of the largest producers of coated steel, aluminium and zinc in Indonesia, PT NS BlueScope Indonesia, PT Saranacentral Bajatama Tbk and PT Sunrise Steel, initiated the association of Indonesian Zinc-Aluminium Steel Industry (IZASI). IZASI, which was formed in November 2012, is to support growth and set coated steel standards in Indonesia to compete in international markets.
Simon Linge, Head of IZASI and President Director of PT NS BlueScope Indonesia, said that steel industry is growing in Indonesia, as shown by industry growth in the past ten years. Demand for coated steel in 2016 stood at 1.3 million tons, compared to IZASI members capacity of only 860,000 tons.
Handaja Susanto, Head II of IZASI and President Director of PT Saranacentral Bajatama Tbk, said that the industry provides added value to productions from upstream industry (CRC).
