Turkish finished steel production in the first five months of 2017 increased by 1.4 pct to 15.6 mln tons YoY, according to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers’ Association (TCUD),
In January-May 2017, long steel production declined by 8.1 pct to 10.3 mln tons, but flat steel output increased by 26.7 pct to 5.3 mln tons YoY.
Total finished steel consumption in January-May 2017 was down by 10.3 YoY to 13.2 mln tons. In the same period, domestic steel consumption of long products dropped by 16.6 pct to 6.4 mln tons YoY. Flat steel consumption decreased by 3.4 pct to 6.8 mln tons YoY. Flat steel consumption accounted for 51.5 pct of total domestic steel consumption.
