Long steel

• China export rebar index, $567.76 per tonne fob main port. – source: Metal Bulletin

 

• Eastern China domestic hot rolled coil yuan 4,230 - 4,240 per tonne ex-warehouse. – source: Metal Bulletin

 

• 6.5mm diameter mesh grade wire rod with alloy is assessed at $565-570/tonne fob China, down $2.5/t compared with last week. A market trader revealed that 400-tonne deals for wire rod dealt higher than $570/t this week, for shipment to Africa after one month. Flat steel

• China export hot rolled coil index, $555.63 per tonne fob main port – source: Metal Bulletin

 

• On the Shanghai Futures Exchange the January 2019 rebar contract closed at CNY 4,056/tonne ($586/t), just CNY 1/t higher than Wednesday, while the same contract for hot rolled coil closed down CNY 30/t at CNY 3,909/t. The relatively stable prices same despite a continued increase in daily trading volumes. – source: Kallanish

Scrap

• One Turkish mill booked an unspecified tonnage of HMS 1&2 80:20 at $327.5/tonne cfr Turkey from the Baltic. This compares to a Baltic-origin cargo booked last at $328/t following a US-origin deal concluded at $327/t. The second cargo this week was Benelux-origin for 20,000 tonnes of HMS 75:25, 5,000t shredded, 7,000t HMS1, 2,000t busheling and 6,000t cut rebar at an average of $325/t. – source: Kallanish

• The Italian market is extremely quiet due to both domestic and international steel market uncertainty and falling long prices according to market sources. No Black Sea billet bookings from Italy have been registered over the past two weeks. Meanwhile Italian domestic billet prices for material purchased by smaller re-rollers have lost €5-10/tonne ($5.8-11.6/t) m-o-m and are now hovering at €410-415/t ex-works on average. – source: Kallanish

 

Bar/ Wire rod

• SAE 1008 6.5mm diameter wire rod is assessed $2.5/t lower by Kallanish on Thursday at $580/t cfr Manila..- source: Kallanish

 

HRC/P

• Kallanish currently puts A36 material at $940-960/st, where it has been relatively stable for the past several weeks. All prices are ex-works, domestic mill. - source: Kallanish
