Iranian half-year-through-September iron ore production grows

Iran’s major miners increased iron ore output 17% on-year in the six months through 22 September to 22.1 million tonnes, Kallanish learns from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (Imidro).

Gol Gohar accounted for 7.9mt of this output, followed by Chadormalu with 4.4mt and Central Iron Ore with 2.68mt. Next came Middle East Mines and Mineral Industry Development (Midhco) with 2.53mt, Gohar Zamin with 2.24mt and Sangan Opal Parsian with 1.44mt.

Merchant run-of-mine ore output at five major Iranian miners, meanwhile, also rose 17% in the half-year to 2.86mt.

Sangan Iron Ore Complex was the biggest producer with 1.17mt, followed by Central Iron Ore with 888,414t and Iranian Central Plateau Iron Ore Mines Complex with 512,031t.

Iran’s seven major steelmakers increased crude steel output 14% in the six months to 9.4mt (see Kallanish passim), while direct reduced iron output grew 19% to 11.28mt.
