Brazil begins cold-rolled stainless steel AD duties' review

Brazil has initiated an official review of antidumping duties on imports of cold-rolled stainless steel sheet, of grades 304, 304L, and 430 originating from Germany, China, South Korea, Finland, Taiwan and Vietnam. This is according to a document from the local foreign trade secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Industry (Secex/MDIC) monitored by Kallanish.

Brazilian authorities note that there is sufficient evidence of damage to domestic production if duties on the said products are not extended.

The measures were first imposed in 3 October 2013. According to the decision, Brazil applied duties on imports of the specified products from the said countries.

The duties on cold-rolled stainless steel plate covered steels with 0,35mm thick or more but less than 4,75 mm classified under the Brazilian ‘Nomenclatura Comum do MERCOSUL’ (NCM) code as 7219.32.00, 7219.33.00, 7219.34.00, 7219.35.00 and 7220.20.90.

The investigation was originally launched following a request from local producer Aperam Inox América do Sul SA.
