Major Iranian steelmakers’ exports slumped -17% on-year in the month through 22 October to 364,215 tonnes, according to the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA). This was due to economic sanctions on Iran, the requirement to supply the domestic steel market, and reduced international steel prices.
Shipments in the seven months through 22 October thus fell -3% on-year to 3.88 million tonnes, ISPA says in a report seen by Kallanish.
South Kaveh Steel (SKS) nevertheless saw one-month exports surge 87% to 78,500t, and seven-month shipments rise 22% to 497,500t.
Khouzestan Steel remained the largest exporter in the 22-October month despite shipments falling -16% to 143,005. Its seven-month exports declined -14% to 1.34mt.
