Brazilian slab producer Companhia Siderúrgica do Pecém (CSP) exports have recorded a new record volume for 2018, reaching 284,620 tonnes in October, Kallanish learns from data issued by the company.
CSP slab shipments abroad amounted to 2.48 million tonnes up to November, or 15.4% more year-on-year. The main destination for the steelmaker`s slab shipments since it began operations on 15 August 2016 to the end of October 2018 was the US, which took 1.35mt of overall exports. Mexico was the second largest importer of CSP slab with 921,395t, followed by Turkey and South Korea with 860,462t and 401,601t, respectively.
CSP’s slab have also been exported in the period to countries such as Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Morocco, the United Kingdom, Czech Republic and Taiwan.
CSP is the fourth-largest steelmaker in Brazil. The company is a joint venture formed by Vale (50% share) and South Korean companies Dongkuk (30%) and Posco (20%).
