Khorasan Steel targets new export record

Khorasan Steel increased exports 67% on-year in the ten months through 20 January to 150,618 tonnes, already surpassing the overall number of shipments in the last full Iranian year. The steelmaker is targeting 200,000t of exports in the year through 20 March 2019, it says in a note seen by Kallanish.

In addition to its previous customers in Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Pakistan, Khorasan has found new buyers this Iranian year in Oman, United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Southeast Asia, the firm says.

Iran’s fourth-largest steelmaker has a 1.4 million tonnes/year electric arc furnace-based billet plant and 640,000 t/y of rebar and sections capacity. It also has a 2.5m t/y capacity iron ore pelletising plant. Its iron ore beneficiation plant of the same capacity, ordered in 2015 from Finnish technology supplier Outotec, is slated for launch imminently.
