Russia challenges EU's CRC anti-dumping duties at WTO

Russia’s economy and trade ministry has requested for an arbitration panel at the World Trade Organisation to review EU anti-dumping measures on imports of cold rolled coil, Kallanish learns from official records.

The ministry requested the panel establishment on 11 March. This followed a series of formal consultations between senior Russian and EU trade officials, which failed to reach a mutually satisfactory agreement, the Russian ministry says.

Russian CRC is subject to anti-dumping duties ranging from 18.7-36.1%, with MMK subject to an 18.7% duty, Severstal a 34% duty and NLMK and other suppliers a 36.1% duty. These are applicable from February 2016 for five years. Russia initially attempted to dispute the duties by requesting consultations in January 2017.

The WTO will review the request for arbitration on 26 March.
