World's Topmost Crude Steel Producing Nations in February

The crude steel production by world countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) surged higher during the month of February this year. The monthly production data suggests that output by the 64 countries reporting to the association has jumped higher significantly by 4.1% over the previous year. These countries had accounted for almost 99% of the total world crude steel production in 2017.

The world crude steel production totaled 137.274 million tonnes (Mt) in February this year, as compared with the output of 131.916 Mt in February 2018.

China continued to the world leader in crude steel production with an output totaling 70.988 Mt. The country accounted for nearly 52% of the global steel production.

The cumulative crude steel output during the first two months of the current year totaled 287.609 Mt. This is higher by 3.8% over the production of 277.191 Mt during the corresponding two-month period in 2018.
