Iran’s major miners saw iron ore concentrate output rise in the two months through 21 May to 8.08 million tonnes, Kallanish learns from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (Imidro). This 3% year-on-year rise compares to a -1% output decline in the month through 20 April.
Gol Gohar produced 2.81mt of concentrate in the two-month period, Chadormalu produced 1.85mt and Middle East Mines and Mineral Industry Development (Midhco) accounted for 934,491t. Next came Central Iron Ore with 782,618r, Gohar Zamin with 736,274t and Sangan Opal Parsian with 490,014t.
Merchant run-of-mine ore output at five major Iranian miners, meanwhile, declined -34% to 750,948t.
Sabanour Mining and Industrial Development Company produced 219,716t, Iranian Central Plateau Iron Ore Mines Complex 193,236t, Central Iron Ore 146,910t, Sangan Iron Ore Complex 129,086t and Chadormalu 62,000t.
Iran’s major steelmakers, meanwhile, reported a 12% growth in two-month direct reduced iron production to 4.85mt (see Kallanish passim). Crude steel output, however, fell -1% to 3.42mt, but finished steel production rose 6% to 2.75mt.
