World's Topmost Steel Producing Nations - May '19

The crude steel output by world countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) recorded notable increase during the initial five-month period of the current year. The cumulative steel production data suggests that output by the 64 countries reporting to the association has edged higher by nearly 5% over the previous year. The above countries had accounted for almost 99% of the total world crude steel production in 2018.

The global crude steel output totaled 764.072 million tonnes (Mt) from January to May this year, as compared with the output of 727,510 Mt in Jan-May ’18.

The world crude steel production totaled 162.744 million tonnes (Mt) in May ‘19, as compared with the output of 154.460 Mt in May last year.

China led world’s crude steel production with an output of 89.091 Mt. The country accounted for nearly 55% of the global steel production.
