Iranian semi-finished steel production grew 2% on-year in the two months through 21 May to 4.34 million tonnes, propelled by a 15% rise in billet output to 2.57mt, while slab production fell -13% to 1.77mt. So says the Iranian Steel Producers’ Association (ISPA) in a report published on its online Chilan portal, monitored by Kallanish.
Two-month finished steel output increased 16% to 3.52mt, of which flat products comprised 1.84mt, up 15%. Hot rolled flats output rose 13% to 1.59mt and coated flats production grew by the same rate to 233,000t, but cold rolled flats output declined -19% to 290,000t.
Longs output, meanwhile, grew 18% to 1.68mt. Rebar accounted for 1.32mt, up 18%, while sections output surged 31% to 226,000t.
Iranian direct reduced iron production grew 9% in the two months to 4.99mt.
