Long steel

• In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 20mm HRB400 rebar was trading at CNY 3,850-3,860/tonne ($562-563/t), only down CNY 5/t from the previous week. On the Shanghai Futures Exchange meanwhile the October rebar contract closed at CNY 3,965/t, CNY 52/t lower than previous day and CNY 19/t lower than the week before. – source: Kallanish

 

• East China, domestic, grade III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 3,980-4,000 yuan ($579-582) per tonne, including value-added tax.

            North China, domestic, grade III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 3,880-3,910 yuan per tonne, including VAT.– source: Fastmarkets

 

Flat steel

• East China, domestic, commercial-grade HRC (4.5-12mm), traded at 3,850-3,860 yuan ($560-562) per tonne, including VAT.

• In Shanghai on Friday afternoon, 5.5x1,500mm Q235 HRC was trading at CNY 3,880-3,890/tonne ($564.68-566.14/t), a slight fall of CNY 10/t over the week. On the Shanghai Futures Exchange, the October HRC contract closed CNY 37/t lower than Thursday and CNY 21/t lower over the week at CNY 3,837/t. – source: Kallanish

Scrap

• The daily index for steel scrap, HMS 1&2 (80:20 mix), North Europe origin, cfr Turkey, ended the week at $282.08 per tonne on July 12, down from $296.18 per tonne on July 5.

 

• The daily index for steel scrap, HMS 1&2 (80:20 mix), US origin, cfr Turkey, was $289.26 per tonne on Friday, down from $303.36 per tonne a week earlier. – source: Fastmarkets

 

• Fastmarkets' weekly steel scrap HMS 1&2 (80:20), export index, fob New York, was $278 per tonne on July 10, unchanged week on week. The steel scrap shredded scrap, export index, fob New York, was also unchanged at $283 per tonne. - source: Fastmarkets

 

• Fastmarkets' price assessment for bulk shipments of steel scrap HMS 1&2 (80:20), cfr Vietnam, was $308-315 per tonne on July 12, up from $302-305 per tonne a week earlier. - source: Fastmarkets

Semis

• On Friday, Kallanish maintained its weekly 5sp/ps or Q275120/125/130mm square billet price at $458-460/t cfr Manila.- source: Kallanish

 

• Turkish billet offers dried up last week after a price reduction to around $430/tonne fob from around $435-440/t fob a week prior failed to attract buying interest. Traders' enquiries for billet, following several unsuccessful attempts to strike a deal, were rejected in favour of rebar sales - source: Kallanish

 

• Fastmarkets' price assessment for steel billet imports, cfr Southeast Asia, was $450-460 per tonne on July 12, widening downward by $5 per tonne from the previous day. Last Friday's prices were $5-7 per tonne higher at $457-465 per tonne cfr.  – source: Fastmarkets

 

Bar/ Wire rod

• Kardemir has decreased wire rod prices for the domestic market by TRY 90/tonne ($16/t) to TRY 2,890-2,970/t ($503-516) ex-works, excluding 18% VAT, Kallanish learns from the Turkish integrated steelmaker. - source: Kallanish
