Iranian finished steel output growth slows

Iranian finished steel production rose 12% in the four months through 22 July to 6.93 million tonnes, Kallanish learns from the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA). This slowed from 16% growth after three months.

Hot rolled coil output increased 9% to 3.01mt and rebar output was up 14% to 2.71mt. The latter lost steam from a 21% surge after three months. Cold rolled and coated coil output were up 11% and 12% respectively to 871,000t and 536,000t. Sections output was up 19% to 369,000t.

Semi-finished products output, meanwhile, rose 5% to 8.68mt. This came despite a -6% drop in slab output to 3.56mt, although billet production grew 14% to 5.13mt.

Direct reduced iron production rose 10% to 9.47mt.
