The crude steel output by world countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) surged higher during the initial eight months of the current year. The cumulative data suggests that output by the 64 countries reporting to the association has edged higher by nearly 4.4% over the previous year.
The global crude steel output totaled 1.240 billion tonnes from January to August this year, as compared with the output of 1.188 billion tonnes in Jan-Aug ’18.
The world crude steel production totaled 156.038 million tonnes (Mt) in August this year, as compared with the output of 150.855 Mt in the same month a year before.
China led world’s crude steel production with an output of 87.251 Mt. The country accounted for almost 56% of the global steel production.
