The crude steel output by world countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) recorded notable increase during the initial nine-month period of the current year. The cumulative steel production data suggests that output by the 64 countries reporting to the association has edged higher by nearly 3.9% over the previous year. The above countries had accounted for almost 99% of the total world crude steel production in 2018.
The global crude steel output totaled 1.391 billion tonnes from January to September this year, as compared with the output of 1.339 billion tones in Jan-Sep ’18. China led world’s crude steel production with an output of 747.824 Mt. The country accounted for nearly 54% of the global steel production.
The world crude steel production totaled 151.499 million tonnes (Mt) in Sep ‘19, as compared with the output of 151.898 Mt in the same month a year before.
