Iranian steel exports grow in October

Ten major Iranian steel producers increased combined exports by 54% on-year in the month through 22 October to 561,700 tonnes, Kallanish learns from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (Imidro).

Mobarakeh Steel (MSC) without its subsidiaries was the largest exporter in the month with 132,512t. This was followed by Esfahan Steel (Esco) with 114,653t, MSC subsidiary Hormozgan Steel with 83,310t, Khouzestan Steel (KSC) with 82,296t and South Kaveh Steel (SKS) with 64,100t.

In the seven months through 22 October these producers’ exports thus increased 8% on-year to 4.49 million tonnes. KSC’s shipments comprised 1.08mt, MSC’s 885,397t and Esco’s 681,868t. KSC and Hormozgan Steel exported 528,160t and 453,494t respectively.

In the six months through 22 September Iran exported $607 million worth of iron ore to China, which was Iran’s largest metals and minerals segment export channel, Imidro says without providing tonnages. It also shipped $148m of billet to China. It exported $412m of billet to Indonesia, $183m of long steel to Iraq and $100m of steel products to Afghanistan.
