Vietnam to export some key industrial items in 2008

Vietnam is expected to export some key industrial items, including crude oil and coal next year, local newspaper Investment reported Monday.

Specifically, the country is expected to export 16 million tons of crude oil with average price of 78 U.S. dollars per barrel in2008, the paper quoted a report of the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Vietnam is also expected to ship abroad 30 million tons of coal next year, equaling to the export volume estimated for this year.

Meanwhile, exports of some other items such as textiles, garments, footwear, woodwork and electric components are forecast to see high growths.

Vietnam reaped year-on-year export turnover growth of 20 percent to over 43.6 billion U.S. dollars in the first 11 months of this year, including over 7.5 billion dollars from shipping abroad crude oil, nearly 7.1 billion dollars from textiles and garments, over 3.5 billion dollars from footwear, and 899 million dollars from coal, according to the country's General Statistics Office.

The country has eyed export revenues of 57.6-58.6 billion dollars in 2008, up from estimated 48 billion dollars in 2007, and39.6 billion dollars in 2006.
