Indonesia minister hopes for ASEAN-India FTA in 2008
The Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) is hopeful of completing its free trade agreement with India this year, Indonesian Trade Minister Mari Pangestu said on Tuesday.
"We are nearly there ... hopefully this year," she was quoted by Reuters as telling a gathering.
India and ASEAN postponed negotiations for an agreement last year because they couldn't agree on the coverage of products.
ASEAN, which comprises Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Brunei, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos, has been working to transform itself from a loose political association into an economic grouping. (*)
