By the end of 2007, the country had licensed more than 9,500 foreign investment projects, with a total registered capital of US$98 billion. So far, 8,590 of them are still operational with a total investment of US$83.1 billion.
Registered foreign investment has kept increasing remarkably (by six folds in 2003, 42.9 percent in 2004, and 69 percent in 2007.)
In 2006 and 2007, foreign investment flowed significantly into large-scale projects in the industry and service sectors, with an average capital of US$14.4 million per project. The industry and construction sector accounted for 66.8 percent of the projects and 60.2 percent of the charter capital.
