China's scrap imports decline in June

China imported 199,000 tons of scrap in June, decreased by 19.3 percent from the same period of last year.

In addition, China imported 1.438 million tons of scrap in the first six months, and the total scrap import is expected to reach about 2.876 million tons in 2008.

During the first half of 2008, those scraps included 282,000 tons were imported from Spain, up by year-on-year 73.8 percent. Shipments from Kazakhstan totaled 159,000 tons, increased by 37.2 percent from a year earlier. In addition, Hong Kong took 158,000 tons, down by 10.1 percent from a year ago.
