China Steel Corp. to raise prices for Q4

Taiwan's China Steel Corp. (CSC) has announced its domestic prices for the fourth quarter.

The company will raise prices slightly, except for electrical galvanized product. CSC indicated the price rise is mainly because its domestic price in the third quarter is still about US$150/ton lower than the global steel market price.

However, in consideration of downstream users' exporting capacity, the company has decided to decrease the amount that it had originally planned to raise.

CSC has raised its price by 3.92 percent on average for the fourth quarter, but its price is still lower than those of China Baosteel and other Taiwan domestic mills. CSC's price rises will be as follows: hot roll steel products will rise by NT$800/ton; cold roll steel products by NT$990/ton; steel plate product by NT$1,700/ton; wire and rods by NT$1800/ton; silicon steel sheet by NT$1,500/ton and HGI coil price by NT$240/ton.
