Vietnam could be listed in top five apparel exporters by 2015

           

 

Vice minister of Trade and Industry, Bui Xuan Khu reported Vietnam is trying to become one of the world's top five apparel producers and exporters by 2015 if maintaining the production and export growth.

 

At present, Vietnam ranks among top 10 apparel producers and exporters of the world.

 

To reach the target, Vietnam Garment and Textile Group (Vinatex) and companies need to invest 6.5 trillion dong for cotton plantation and production of synthetic fibre.

 

Additionally, Vinatex will cooperate with PetroVietnam to build the first polyester fibre production in Vietnam with a designed capacity of 400 tonnes of ordinary fibre, 50 tonnes of special fibre. The plant is estimated to cost about three trillion dong and come into operation by 2011.
