Quatron Steel builds plant in Ba Ria-Vung Tau

Quatron Steel Joint Stock Company, which is 75% owned by Romania-based Taber Invest Group, has started work on a US$50 million project to build a steel structures factory in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

The factory, covering eight hectares in My Xuan B1 Industrial Park in Tan Thanh District, can produce 42,000 tonnes of steel structures per year. The factory when in place will employ 1,000 local people.

The project will be developed over three phases, with US$20 million spent on the first phase, US$10 million in the second phase and US$20 million for the third phase, said Karim Itum, general director of the company, adding construction would be entirely completed in two-years.

Quatron Steel will start rolling out its first products since March 2009 after finishing the production lines of the first phase since March 2009.

The general director said half of the company's products would be consumed in Vietnam and the remainder for export to some main markets including Australia, India, Thailand, Cambodia and the Middle East.

He added Quatron Steel JSC, which was established in Vietnam early this year, would concentrate on developing some targeted products of industrial glass and wood products, and investing in building high-rise office projects in the near future.

Asked about the target customers of Quatron Steel, Karim said the customer base would be wide.

"The company aims to supply steel structures for developing commercial buildings, hotels, stadiums, power plants, rolling mills and petrochemical plants in the country," Karim told the Daily yesterday.

Taher Invest, the parent firm of Quatron Steel Joint Stock Company, currently operates many companies in different industries, ranging from steel production, wood products, industrial glass, cement and petrochemical to hotels, football team and tourist sites.
