Vietnam to generate 83.3 billion kWh of power to support growth

Vietnam plans to generate about 83.3 billion kilowatt-hours of power this year to support an economy targeted to grow by 6.5 percent.

State-owned Electricity of Vietnam expects to produce 57.44 billion kilowatt-hours of power, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said in a statement Wednesday. The remainder will be bought from other sources, the ministry said.

Vietnam’s economy expanded 6.2 percent last year.
