Vietnam Steel Corp decided to increase the steel price in the southern region by 350,000 dong per tonne (for rolled steel) and 150,000 dong per tonne (for steel bar) in comparison with the latest price increasing period at the beginning of May. Now, the company’s price for finished rolled steel is posted at 10,590,000 dong per tonne and that for steel bars of 10,840,000 dong per tonne (exclusive VAT).
The company explained for the current rising price that the price applied for previous period was much lower than the market price. In addition, the price for imported steel slab lately rose by $10-20 per tonne against April.
Vietnam Steel Association (VSA) announced that the nation-wide steel consumption in May would be estimated at 350,000-360,000 tonnes, and the sales price among the steel companies would be within 10,200,000-10,800,000 dong per tonne (exclusive VAT).
