Pig iron prices down in East Asia
With the reduction in scrap import market, pig iron import market in East Asia remained weak.
Currently, the pig iron prices declined to US$290-295/ton.
As for Japan's steel mills, it is learned that local steel mills have adjusted the pig iron inventory, so they will not hike the purchase price.
It is reported that the China's pig iron import price hit US$298/ton in mid-May, in addition, Japan exported 10,000 tons of pig iron to Korea, at US$295/ton.
