Steel price to continue rising (Vietnam)

Vietnam Steel Association (VSA) announced on Sep 07 that from now up to the end of 2009, the steel price in domestic markets would keep increasing due to the uptrend in prices of imported materials. However, it's predicted that there would be no sudden changes in steel price.

At present, the price for scrolled steel and steel bar offered by Vietnam Steel Corp (VNSteel) in the northern region (delivered at the factories, VAT and commission exclusive) was posted at 11.295-11.4 million dong per tonne.

VNA while explaining the reason for the increase in steel price said that it was mainly due to the increase in price of steel billet and waste steel in the world markets. On the other hand, despite large volume of stockpiled steel, the price for input materials continued increasing, that led to the fact that the country's steel enterprises would continue raising the price for finished products in Q4 of 2009.
