Baosteel faces price pressure

China’s Baosteel has partially cut its October prices in order to match the market, hot rolled products were down by RMB300/ton,

According to market insiders, Baosteel’s market supply is very small compared with other mills, some of its HR products are sold to end-users in automotives and electronic appliances sectors directly, the rest are made into cold rolled products, that its costly price would not suffer.

On the other hand, the huge price gap will cause Baosteel an immense pressure in November. If the company further lower its prices next month, other major mills, such as Wuhan Steel and Ansteel will follow.
