The Thai economy is expected to grow 6.9 per cent this year, the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce's Economic and Business Forecasting Centre director Thanawat Polvichai said on Thursday.
The UTCC's previous economic forecast was between five and six per cent.
"Exports have increased at a high rate due to clear signs of global economic recovery while the country's economic situation is starting to revive, causing consumption to rise," Mr Thanawat said.
He said the gross domestic product in the third quarter was expected to expand 5.1 per cent year-on-year.
"The economy is expanding continually even though the pace is slower than the first half of the year," he said.
