Steel price report as of December 21, 2011

Scrap

-          Scrap price in southern China down, Sanbao I&S in Fujian province cut its scrap buying prices by RMB 50 per tonne to RMB 3,630 per tonne ($571) with 17% VAT for heavy melting scrap (>6mm) – source: SBB

-          Turkish scrap prices up to $401-449 per tonne – source: SBB

Semis

-          CIS billet sales reached $600 FOB Black Sea- source SBB

-          Billet prices in northern China stabilized. In Hebei province’s Tangshan city, ex-works price for 150x150mm Q235 billet stayed at $592 per tonne with 17% VAT on a cash-payment basis – source: SBB

-          CIS mini mills pushed billet export prices up by $20 per tonne to $585 – 590 per tonne FOB Black Sea – source: MB

Bar

-          Northern China rebar prices down. Offer of 16-25mm HRB 335 rebar from Hebei I&S at $634-635 per tonne with 17% VAT, down $5 per tonne – source: SBB

-          In Beijing, spot prices of 16-25mm diameter grade III rebar fell 10-20 Yuan per tonne to 4,000-4,280 Yuan per tonne  - source: MB

-          Tokyo Steel will increase domestic rebar prices by Yen 3,000 per tonne – source: Yieh

HRC

-          Turkish HRC prices increased $10-20 per tonne to $640-650 per tonne ex-works for January to February production – source: SBB

-          HRC with 5-12 mm thickness in Shanghai up to $659-660 per tonne – source: MB
