Steel price report as of December 26, 2011

Scrap

-          Domestic scrap prices in eastern China soften. Yonggang Group  cut its scrap price by RMB 50 ($8) to RMB 3,400 ($536) per tonne with 17% VAT for heavy melting scrap – source: SBB

-          Turkish scrap prices from the US suppliers increased to $465 per tonne CFR for HMS 1&2 80:20 and $470 per tonne for shredded scrap – source: SBB

-          Shredded scrap prices imported into Spain rose to $432-439 per tonne CFR – source: MB

-          Hyundai Steel purchased 70,000 tonnes of A3 scrap from Russia at $453 per tonne C&F for the February delivery – source: Yieh

Semis

-          Turkish billet export prices up by $10 per tonne from higher scrap costs to $610-620 per tonne – source: MB

-          Billet sold to Saudi Arabia rose to $620-630 per tonne FOB – source: MB

Bar

-          Turkish merchant bar exporters increased offer prices by $20 to $720-730 per tonne FOB – source: MB

-          Spot rebar prices in northern China for 16-25mm diameter grade III rose by 30 Yuan to 4,020-4,280 Yuan per tonne ($632-673) – source: MB

HRC

-          Turkish HRC domestic prices rose by $20-30 to $630-650 per tonne CFR – source: MB
