According to statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), the country’s exports of carbon steel totaled 1.983 million tons in November, 2011, decreased by 16.8% year on year, dropped for consecutive three months.
It’s analyzed that the carbon steel exports to South Korea dropped since the South Korean’s steelmakers have aggressively expanded the production capacity and domestic supply.
Also, the carbon steel exports to Thailand decreased as the automobile and other steel consuming industries were damaged by the severe floods.
Meanwhile, Japan’s total steel exports in November, 2011 amounted to 3.056 million tons, dropped by 14.6% year on year. The total steel export values were US$3.81 billion in November, 2011, down by 3.7% year on year.
