Steel price report as of January 9, 2012

Scrap

-          US scrap price to East Asia was confirmed at $469 per tonne CFR Korea for HMS1 and $468-469 per tonne CFR Vietnam  for 80:20 HMS 1&2 – source: SBB

-          Zenith Steel Co., China’s major longs producer, cut its scrap prices by RMB30 per tonne to RMB 3,260 per tonne ($516) with 17% VAT for heavy melting scrap (>6mm thick) – source SBB

-          Prices of US shredded scrap continues to climb by $7 per long ton to $460 per tonne, delivered Midwestern US mill – source: SBB

-          Turkish steel mills purchased the US HMS 80:20 (1&2) at $468 per tonne C&F – source: Yieh

Semis

-          Billet import in S.E. Asia remained steady at $630 per tonne FOB – source: SBB

-          Billet prices in N.China dropped by $5 per tonne. Tangshan city ex-work prices for 150x150mm Q235 billet at $593 per tonne on a cash-payment basis, including 17% VAT – source: SBB

-          CIS billet price rose by $10-20 per tonne to $610-620 per tonne CFR Turkey – source: MB

-          CIS export slab price at $510-520 per tonne FOB Black Sea- Source: MB

-          East China rebar prices stabilized at $659-669 per tonne with 17% VAT for 16-25 mm HRB335 – source: SBB

HRC

-          China export HRC at $605-610 per tonne FOB – source: MB
