According to data released by the Indonesian trade statistics that Indonesia's ferrous scrap imports in January 2012 totaled 176,000 tons, showing an increase of 29.4% versus the same period of last year but a decrease of 21.7% compared to that of the previous month.
Figures showed that the largest supply quantity of the total imports came from South Africa with 29,000 tons, up 123.7%; followed by Singapore that supplied 20,000 tons, increasing by 155.1%; the third largest the UK with 15,000 tons, growing by 322% and the US the fourth largest with 14,000 tons, down by 67.6%, all compared to the same period of last year.
