South Korea’s March scrap imports down by 8% m-o-m

According to statistics, South Korea imported 823,000 tons of scrap in March, down by 8% from a month earlier and decreasing by 9.6% year on year.

 

In March, Japan was the largest scrap exporter to South Korea with 425,000 tons, surging by 44.9% and the US was the second largest one with 222,000 tons, down by 22.6%.

 

In the first three months of this year, South Korea’s scrap imports totaled 9.61 million tons, soaring by 32.8% year on year.

 

Among them, 1.162 million tons were from Japan, rising by 32.9%; 692,000 tons were from the US, increasing by 40.5%; 146,000 tons were from Russia, up by 2.5%, all compared to that in the same period of a year ago.
