It is reported that India government is probing imported China stainless steel, they will restrict stainless steel import once they find its domestic stainless steel mills are injured by flooded imports from China.
The share of China stainless steel products in India soared from 10 percent to 50 percent in the past three years. HR stainless steel imports from China during FY 2011-2012 hiked from 5364 tonnes of FY 2009-2010 to 36,183 tonnes, however, those from other countries dropped from 45,120 tonnes to 37,071 tonnes in the same period.
India produced 181,512 tonnes of HR stainless steel in FY 2011-2012, but the actual sales volume mere amounted to 72,831 tonnes. The sales performance of Indian stainless steel nearly entered into stagnation in the past three years.
