Japan’s scrap exports increase by 19.2% y-o-y in November

According to data, Japan exported 735,000 tons of scraps in November, rising by 19.2% year on year.

 

In November, China was the largest importer of the Japanese scraps with 326,000 tons, increasing by 9.7%; South Korea was the second largest one with 320,000 tons, rising by 9.3%, both compared to the figures in the same period of a year ago.

 

In the first 11 months of this year, Japan’s scrap exports amounted to 7.702 million tons, increasing by 59.9% year on year.

 

Among them, 4.484 million tons were exported to South Korea, jumping by 74.4%; 2.721 million tons were to China, rising by 26.7% and 256,000 tons were to Vietnam, soaring by 870.8%, all compared to those in the same period of the previous year.

 

It’s estimated that Japan’s scrap exports would reach 8.4 million tons in the full 2012.
