China’s Steel Prices

Flat

-       Commercial grades of HRC (4.5-12mm) in Shanghai were trading at 4,140-4,180 yuan per tonne while those in Beijing changed hands at 4,080-4,100 yuan per tonne, unchanged from Tuesday – source: MB

-       China’s prices for 2.75mm HRC dropped by RMB 2 per tonne to RMB 4,233 per tonne – source: SteelHome

Long

-       In Beijing, grade III rebar traded at 3,560-3,620 yuan ($567-577), down 10 yuan per tonne from Monday – source: MB

Scrap

-          Metal Bulletin’s ferrous scrap index on an HMS 1&2 (80:20) basis cfr Iskenderun for Wednesday was $401.91, 1% down on last week's high of $405.96 – source: MB

-          The Metal Bulletin daily ferrous scrap index fell by $2.30 per tonne day-on-day to $401.91 per tonne for HMS 1&2 (80:20) material – source: MB

-          Tokyo  crap dealers for February deliveries of H2-grade scrap rose by ¥6,130 ($69) per tonne – or 23% – compared with last month's auction to ¥32,850 per tonne fas – source: MB

-          Average prices of the US’s H1 scrap in Pittsburgh, Chicago and Philadelphia were at US$350.83/long ton on January 14th, 2013, remaining flat from a week ago – source: Yieh

Semis

-          Korean mills are seeking to export billet at $590-600/mt CFR Indonesia and Philippines, up from $580-590/mt CFR during the first week of January . Some Korean billet deals were heard concluded at $591-592/mt CFR Indonesia – source: SBB

HRC
