China’s Steel Prices
Flat
- China’s prices for 2.75mm HRC dipped by RMB 14 per tonne to reach RMB 4,219 per tonne; prices for 1.0mm CRC dropped RMB 1 per tonne to RMB 4,758 per tonne – source: SteelHome
- China’s Q235 5.5mm HRC prices have decreased by Yuan 45/mt over the period to Yuan 4,080-4,100/mt with VAT – source: SBB
Long
- In Shanghai, grade III rebar traded at 3,440-3,660 yuan ($553-588) per tonne, down 10 yuan per tonne from Wednesday – source: MB

Scrap
- Tokyo Steel Manufacturing raised all its scrap buying prices Wednesday by ¥1,000/mt effective from January 17 arrivals, yet the mill is still only paying ¥30,500/mt for H2 scrap delivered to its Utsunomiya works in the northern Kanto – source: SBB
Semis
- The London Metal Exchange’s three-month steel billet contract price remained unchanged at $320-330 per tonne on Thursday January 17 – source: MB
- CIS producers are offering billet at $540/mt FOB, a Tunisian buyer bought last week 30,000-35,000 mt of CIS material at $555-565/mt CFR. Canadian billet has also been offered in the market at $580/mt CFR Morocco – source: SBB
Bar
- Northern European domestic rebar is now trading at €530-550 ($704-731) per tonne delivered for January production, up from €525-535 levels last week – source: MB
- Locally-traded rebar in Spain, Italy and Portugal is being sold for €495-520 per tonne delivered for January production, up from €490-510 per tonne last week – source: MB
HRC
- US hot-rolled coil at $689 per tonne ($625 per net ton), down 1.9% from $702 per tonne ($636 per net ton) three weeks earlier – source: MB
