China’s Steel Prices
Flat
- China’s prevailing Q235 5.5mm HRC prices were around Yuan 4,060-4,090/metric ton ($652-657/mt) with 17% VAT in Shanghai and Yuan 4,120-4,130/mt with VAT in Guangdong's Lecong steel market, down by Yuan 25/mt and Yuan 15/mt respectively from the previous day – source: SBB
- Chinese prices of 2.75mm HRC dropped by RMB 21 per tonne to RMB 4,245 per tonne and prices of 1.0mm CRC down by RMB 1 per tonne to RMB 4,882 per tonne – source: SteelHome
Long
- China’s 6.5mm diameter Q235 wire rod was priced at about Yuan 3,570-3,580/metric ton ($573-575/mt) with 17% VAT in the Shanghai spot market on February 27, down by slightly over Yuan 100/mt from last Wednesday.
- Construction steel prices in China downward. Prices of 6.5mm HPB235 and 20mm HRB335 dropped by RMB 16 per tonne to RMB 3,815 per tonne and RMB 3,823 per tonne, respectively – source: SteelHome

Semis
- The London Metal Exchange’s three-month contract prices for steel billet fell to $275-285 per tonne on Monday February 25, from $300-310 per tonne on Friday – source: MB
Bar
- Kyoei Steel, the largest rebar maker, said it added about ¥2,000/ton (US$22/ton) to normal size of rebar to the price of ¥62,000/ton. And Tokyo D-Bar Steel also announced it would hike its price by ¥5,000/ton (US$54/ton) to ¥65,000/ton – source: Yieh
- Malaysian mills are offering rebar of 16mm or thicker at 2,180-2,200 ringgit per tonne ($698-704) on a locally delivered basis, the same level as last week – source: MB

- CSC raised its hot rolled coil prices by TWD 1,089/mt to TWD 21,036/t for SPHC-grade hot rolled coil – source: SBB
- A Russian trader bought February-rolled 4mm HRC at 16,300-16,400 roubles ($536-539) per tonne ex-works, which is 2% more than he paid for material rolled in January – source: MB
