China’s Steel prices
Long steel prices
- China’s spot prices for 6.5mm diameter Q195 wire rod sourced from
Jiujiang Iron & Steel were lingering at about Yuan 3,270-3,290/metric ton
($529-533/mt) with 17% VAT on June 26 – source: SBB
- Northern China’s major steelmaker Hebei Iron & Steel (Hegang) has
slashed its rebar contract price for June by Yuan 160/metric ton ($26/mt) from
May’s contract price. Price for 18-25mm diameter HRB400 rebar at Yuan 3,450/mt
with 17% VAT – source: SBB
Flat steel prices
- China’s Q235 5.5mm HRC prices were around Yuan 3,430-3,460/metric ton
($558-563/mt) with 17% VAT in Shanghai and Yuan 3,480-3,530/mt with VAT in
Guangdong's Lecong steel market, down Yuan 10/mt and Yuan 45/mt, respectively

- Transactions
for commercial-grade, boron-containing plate were at $500-505 per tonne fob on
Wednesday June 26 for August shipment, down $5 per tonne from Steel First’s
price assessment of $505-510 per tonne fob last Friday – source: MB
Steel Prices in other countries
Scrap

Scrap price in USA
remained unchanged. The average prices of the US’s H1 scrap in Pittsburgh,
Chicago and Philadelphia were at US$325.83/long ton on June 24th, 2013 –

LME three-month steel billet contract prices
rose to $160-180 per tonne on Wednesday June 26, from $155-175 per tonne on

Rebar prices in South Europe are now pegged at €425/metric
ton FOB with loading in 20 days to Algeria, down by €5/mt over the last ten

Spanish domestic rebar prices continued to fall during the
last two weeks on the back of lower scrap costs and weak demand at €180-185/mt

thick and above, presently average Rupees 33,750-34,250/metric ton
