China’s Steel prices
Long steel prices
- The average price of 6.5mm HPB235 high speed wire rod in Chinese major markets fell by RMB 7 to RMB 3,535 per tonne on September 24 and that of 20mm HRB335 rebar reached RMB 3,500 per tonne, down by RMB 4 per tonne – source: SteelHome
Flat steel prices
- China’s export transaction prices were at $620-625 per tonne fob for November shipment on Tuesday September 24, narrowing downwards by $5 per tonne – source: MB
- China’s domestic prices for CRC of 1.0mm thickness were at 4,380-4,420 yuan ($713-719) per tonne in Shanghai on Tuesday, down 70-80 yuan per tonne from two weeks ago – source: MB
- China’s prices of 2.75mm HRC dropped by RMB 1 to RMB 3,757 per tonne; prices of 1.0mm CRC declined by RMB 2 per tonne to RMB 4,537 per tonne – source: SteelHome

Scrap
- The quotes of the US HMS 80:20 (1&2) to Taiwan are at US$347/ton CFR and the expected transaction prices are at US$345/ton CFR – source: Yieh

- Cash prices for the semi-finished product fell to $200-210 per tonne, from $219-220 per tonne on the previous trading day – source: MB
Bar/Wire rod
- In Beijing’s dealer market Tuesday spot prices for 18-25mm diameter HRB400 rebar sourced from Hebei Iron & Steel (Hegang) were assessed at Yuan 3,370-3380/metric ton ($548-550/mt) with 17% VAT, down by Yuan 10/mt from Monday. Current prices have moved even closer to the year’s low of Yuan 3,320-3,330/mt reached at end-June
HRC/P
- Export prices for hot rolled coil (HRC) from India are $540-550 per tonne fob for November shipment to Europe, up by $10 over last week’s $535-540 per tonne fob – source: MB
