Thailand’s scrap imports slump in Jan-Sept

According to data, Thailand’s scrap imports totaled 636,000 tons in the January-September period, slumping by 54.4% year on year.

 

In the given period of time, Australia was the largest scrap exporter to Thailand with 145,000 tons, decreasing by 18.9%; the Philippines was second largest one with 46,000 tons, decreasing by 26.6% and Hong Kong was the third largest one with 43,000 tons, rising by 14.8%, all compared to the figures in the same period of a year ago.

 

Meanwhile, it’s estimated that Thailand’s scrap imports would be at 850,000 tons in the whole of 2013.
