China’s Steel prices
Long steel prices
- China’s average price of 6.5mm HPB235 high speed wire rod slipped RMB 8 per tonne to RMB 3,388 per tonne and that of 20mm HRB335 rebar reached RMB 3,378 per tonne, down RMB 13 per tonne – source: SteelHome
Flat steel prices
- The average price of 2.75mm HRC in China market dropped RMB 3 per tonne to RMB 3,604 per tonne on Wednesday while that of 1.0mm CRC kept unchanged at RMB 4,403 per tonne – source: SteelHome
- On Wednesday, Q235 5.5mm HRC prices were Yuan 3,420-3,440/mt with 17% VAT in Shanghai and Yuan 3,540- 3,570/mt with VAT in Guangdong’s Lecong steel market, down Yuan 5/mt and Yuan 20/mt respectively from the previous day – source: SBB
- The average price of 8mm medium plate in China market kept flat at RMB 3,823 per tonne on Wednesday – source: SteelHome

Bars/Wire rods
- Rebar exported from Italy, Spain and Portugal is now €450-460 ($615-628) per tonne fob main Southern European port, compared with €455-465 ($621-635) last week – source: MB
- Export prices for mesh-quality wire rod from Spain, Italy and Portugal tracked rebar, falling to €460-470 ($628-642) per tonne fob main Southern European port, down from €465-475 ($635-649) previously – source: MB
- Northern Europe’s locally-sourced rebar is now €490-€505 ($669-690) per tonne delivered for February production, down from €495-510 ($676-697) previously – source: MB
- Platts daily assessment for Turkish exports was $555/mt FOB Turkish ports on Tuesday, the lowest since August 2010 – source: SBB
- Two mills in CIS were heard offering March rebar for $520-525/mt FOB Black Sea, whilst two international traders told of recent deals concluded by the same mills as low as $510-515/mt, low – $15-20/mt down from a fortnight ago – source: SBB
HRC/P
- Imports of HRC are reported at €435-445/mt CIF Italian ports from India with May arrivals – source: SBB
