Malaysia's May inflation eases to 3.2%, below forecast

Malaysia's consumer price index in May rose 3.2% from a year earlier, falling short of expectations and easing slightly from a month ago, data from the Statistics Department showed on Friday.

The index rose 3.4% in April.

A Reuters poll of 14 economists had forecast the annual inflation rate in May to ease to 3.3%, reflecting steady costs of food, fuel, and transportation.
