Steel Prices in China

Long steel

-         Transaction prices for Chinese-origin 6.5mm diameter SAE1008 wire rod were unchanged for the second consecutive week at about $485/metric ton CFR , despite exporters’ efforts to slightly raise their offer prices – source: Platts

-         In Shanghai, grade III rebar was traded at 3,010-3,070 yuan ($487-497) per tonne, up 10 yuan ($2) per tonne from Monday – source: MB

-         The average price of 6.5mm Q235 high speed wire rod in China’s major marketplaces inched down 1 yuan per tonne to 3,213 yuan per tonne on Wednesday while that of 20mm HRB400 rebar held steady at 3,145 yuan per tonne – source: SteelHome

 

Flat steel

-         Hot rolled coil (HRC) in 3mm gauge was being offered at $540 per tonne cfr from China, for August-September delivery – source: MB

-         Commercial-grade HRC (4.5-12mm) in Shanghai was traded at 3,380-3,400 yuan ($547-550) per tonne, unchanged since last Thursday – source: MB

-         On Wednesday, the average price of 2.75mm HRC in China market fell 2 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day to 3,503 yuan per tonne and that of 1.0mm CRC slipped 6 yuan per tonne to 4,133 yuan per tonne – source: SteelHome

Scrap

-         Platts maintained its daily assessment for shredded scrap at $380-385/lt delivered Midwest mill on Wednesday – source: Platts

-         The average Japan’s nationwide price being paid for deliveries of H2 grade scrap stood at ¥31,752 ($5,138) in the first week of July – source: MB

HRC/P

-         The Platts daily assessment for A36 plate moved up $10 Wednesday to $835-855/st ex-works Southeastern mill in US – source: Platts

-         Transactions for IS 2062 grade A/B structural HRC, 3mm thick and above, took place at an average price of rupees 34,500-35,500/mt ($578-595/mt) ex-works, unchanged from the previous week – source: Platts
